SANT JORDI

St. Jordi's day is celebrated on 23rd of April.

Catalonia's government declared publicly that this day will be holiday.

A long time ago, was tradition to make theater works about st.Jordi's life, dances and processions.

Even, in a village, the boys were declared to marry and they could go after wake up come to the girl's houses. If they were still sleeping, they were obligated to go out and dance with the boy (although if they were t-shirt). Of course, the girls, that day, woke up early not be surprised.

On St. Jordi's day, in Catalonia is typical that boys and girls give a present: boys give to their girlfriends a red rose and girls give them a book in exchange. But also into friends usually give a rose but you can choose another color: yellow means friendship, the red ones love, blue color into family...etc

At the schools celebrait also the Floral games that consist in write poems of the next three subjects: love, faith and homeland.

The winning student is winner with a book and a rose. The st. Jordi's day also is mounted shops in the street and they sell books, roses of different colours, books points,...etc
